10C Shutdown

29oct2010,Friday night 2100 we held our shutdown at the dome site. Our rapporteur for this event was Miss Liyana. First of all, she invited our students representative GAN KAI SEN to give his speech. Then, was Sir 1b came and gave his speech. Finally, he took off the mask that made by LOH CHIN BOK and the dome that made by MIMI as well as his long black coat. This signify that our studio was SHUTDOWN!!!

After had the dinner, our 30 second pptx began. Overall consists about 3 scene and I belong to the fifth for scene 1. Really can’t deny that it was quite nervous when it was my turn to present. But finally I had done it and felt relief. After finish presentation from scene 1 student, our guest of honour TUAN SYED MOHD BAKAR BIN SYED MOHD SALIM together with his wife gave some talk and leave with Sir 1b.

Later on, we watch some movie which was the combination of photos that had taken during construction of our dome before began the scene 2 presentation. Finally the presentation was successfully end at the midnight.

Conference

Today, oct 25 we had the conference about Xzbit RUS101-10 and SOUL SHIFT. There was only a few people when i reach there in the early morning. Later on, sir 1b with our guest of honour TUAN SYED MOHD BAKAR BIN SYED MOHD SALIM came in. Then, sir 1b began the talk while Dr.llias acted as the rapporteur. First of all, sir 1b say thanks to all the studiomaster's hard work. Sir had also research about some articles that related to his lecturer and talk about it. Next was the turn of our guest to give his talk. He showed us the 3 toys that he had made. It was amazing and unique. 5 of our students present the poem. After that, our guest been invited to studio to view our product accompany by sir 1b,Dr.llias, Sir Najib and Encik Rusli. 

At the meantime i went to the studio and helped to move out the table to the dome site. So that the food can be placed on it. During time of dome tea, we sat together inside the dome and having it. We went back to E4BB continue to hear the presentation that were present by selected groups.

Thursday,oct 21. At 1630 i went to the dome site and checked back my strut. Unfortunately, one of the site was already loose. With the help of my friend, my strut been repaired. Later on, i started to do the scaffold. 

First off all, we go and search for the 4 bamboos. 2 were used as a side while another 2 were used to cut off into 1.5m length respectively. Later on, we started to tie up the bamboo together by used the wet rope. The measurement was as the sketch that i had drew below.

We requested sir 1b to examine the structure after tied up all the bamboo together. Unfortunately, sir say that it was loose and showed us our mistake. Sir also demonstrate the correct way for us. We decided to redo it tomorrow evening since the day was getting darker soon.  I also seen that some people's hand had became very red especially the x-man of my section. 

Friday, oct 22. We divided into 2 groups from the section. Some were responsible to do the studio work and another was do the dome. I chose to belong to the dome group as me not so well in designing.  At 1500, i came to the dome site and began our work. We redo the scaffold that yesterday had made. Firstly, we all used the dry rope instead of the wet rope. So we all redo again by put the rope into the water. 

Finally, our first scaffold had successful made after trial and error for a few time.This was the scaffold that my sectionhad produced. Me was belong to section 2.

Then, we began to make the gangplank. We found 3 bamboo that were approximately the same size. Next, we requested Fendy for taught us the way of tied up the bamboo. After that, we tried it by ourselves on the other side. We also seek the advise from sir 1b when we found that the length of the bamboo was not 6m. Sir told us that that was not necessary since it was a natural materials so it will be hard to estimate it length. But if it was a man-made material then we need to follow the length that it had stated. Below was my sketches of gangplank.

It was the time to screw the strut. But my strut being rejected because they said my strut was too broke. But actually the end of my strut was only half been cut in "V" shape in order to let the connector in. Therefore, i found the new bamboo and redo it. I can say that i'm very lucky because i found the bamboo that can directly let the connector in without featheredge it. I'm sure that this time my strut sure will be very tough and can support the weight. At last, they let me to screw my strut and ticked my name.

However, my friend's strut still can't be accepted although she had redo it many times. We went and help up her. At that time, the sky already getting dark. We only depend on the light of staircase to continue our work. We featheredge a bit and took the connector over the gas and heat it then fix back into the strut. And also with the help of those strong boys to knock the connector into the struts. 

Sunday, oct 24. 0900 we walked from our hostel to the site and began to build up the big dome. First of all, we build the top layer. And i helped to support the side of the dome and sometime took the umbrella. We all take turned to work. It was really excited when saw the dome was being build up layer by layer. Thanks for Sir Najib and sir 1b for conducted us during the dome process. And Encik Rusli for took the pictures as well as Dr.llias for treating us the lunch. I'm proud of Sir 1b can make the staircase within a few minutes to repair those strut that was broken after been screw. Below were the pictures that were took during the process.

Through this, i learned the ways of tied the rope. Although there was a demonstration during the studio, i needed to do it by myself so that i can learn fast and efficient.

Soul shift 1500 words

Spread the factual info to the world. Is it possible for the Quantity Surveyor to expose all the detail financing, management detail and etc. to the world to throw away the paradigm that the QS always involve in corruption and bride. There are differences scopes of view and as QS, we need to make a transition or many people always said the transformation. The mind shift or the soul shift or the paradigm shift should be created in order for the QS to escape from the bad paradigm.

As a professional quantity surveyor, we need to evaluate the price of materials. We can estimate the cost of materials through tender document. We need to consider about the quality and prices of the materials in the market whether it is valuable. Then, we can consult our clients and recommend them the precious composition. It is better to choose the materials that are in good quality although the prices are slightly different. We have to know that as the materials that in use is high quality we can save in the maintenance cost. On the other way, the maintenance cost will be high if the materials that used in construction is low. Furthermore, we need to re-evaluate the salary is being pay to the contractor at the correct amount and period. This is to ensure the efficiency of work. If they are being pay under the amount that they expected, they might felt that their hard work are not worth for that. Thus they will become lazy for the next construction work or else just carelessly help you to done the work. Same as when they are being pay more. We need to give the reasonable reason so that they wont feel any uncomfortable. For example as a bonus when they work during some kind of festivals. Most important is that we have to ensure that the project does not run over budget or beyond the contracted time frame as this could lead to damages being sought on behalf of the owner. Construction arbitration enables comparative evaluation of the performance of a project over its operating life. The life cycle costing evaluation considers factors like reusability, sustainability, maintainability, and aspects of the constructed facility. It also assesses the maintenance costs, initial capital costs, operational costs, and residual and disposal costs. We may also give suggestions on procurement methods like selecting the right kinds of contractors and suppliers. We also provide suggestions on tendering, give contractual advice, and do valuation of construction work. Clients can expect to cost control and financial management and seek insurance advice from our quantity surveyor.

One of the roles of a quantity surveyor is to estimating, control and manages the costing of a construction project. This would include the new builds, renovations or maintenance work. From easily design costs to final figures, quantity surveyor seek to minimize the cost of the project and enhance value of money whilst ensuring that the project meets all legal quantity assurance requirements. The document tender involving the expense should be reliable and trustworthy according to the provision in the Law of Construction. Trustworthy, honest and have good communication as well as presentation skill is the basis principle should be underlie for a  QS. Quantity surveyor also council the project director, owner and contractor on cost and budget to keep the pricing as well as the time frames, reasonable for all parties involved. They ensure all the work is complete within the building standard.  Apart from that, quantity surveyor’s duties related to the costing typically include conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour cost. Secondly preparing negotiating and analyzing cost for tender and contract and also valuing complete work and arrangement payment. Other than that, quantity surveyor require to familiar with specific for buildings, health concern and safety regulation. This person is also very thorough, pay attention in detail and quick problem solver. A quantity surveyor should has the ability to find the solution to overcome the consequent carved by the increase of price of the materials during the construction work progressing. Overall, the truth must be exerted by a QS as this is a very sensitive issue in the aspect of economic, politic and social. In this era, the world is full of the falsehood, some of the peoples are willing betray their own principle in order to take their own advantage because the insatiable attitude. I think this is easily happen among the firm related with construction. Corruption, cheated happen will bring a big consequence to the social for example building collapse that would sacrifice thousands of human life and properties. Hence, the mind shift should be emphasized to rectify the work ethic of quantity surveyor.

As a professional surveyor, we must show good behavior towards all people. It is not to say hypocritical, but we must act as a professional. As a professional surveyor, we should spread the info that fact, true and correct to the entire world. If we heard the latest news, most surveyors have been doing such despicable acts like corruption and so on. As a one of a professional surveyor, we should avoid these activities. In the sense of leadership, a surveyor must lead to a job as possible. Leadership in terms of fairness should be applied within a surveyor. Honesty in their work will result in quality as well. Not only the surveyor, but every human act must be applied with a good nature for the welfare of mankind. Surveyor must also apply the value of leadership in disseminating the correct information and facts to the world. A surveyor must be confident that each works for all our actions will affect everyone who deals with a surveyor. If we are dealing with good and full of leadership, clients will be interested and would often give us the opportunity to work. With this will definitely improve the quality of our work that is very challenging indeed. We all believe that every religion forbids us as guilty of corruption deceit and so, so, the blessings will be accessible to all people if we are obedient and do what is right in our lives. A surveyor also must always be alert to the fluctuating prices of construction equipment as if we were so engrossed, would be one in the costs calculations. So, a surveyor must apply the leadership in spread factual info to the world and the moral values such as honesty, sensitivity and others to solve a task to get the blessings of life.

Quantity surveying is all about cost management of construction. Thus, management skill and responsibility is needed when working as quantity surveyor. Quantity Surveyor primarily assesses the capital expenditure of a building or a facility after evaluating the feasibility, design and construction costs. In order to master management skill in quantity surveying field, quantity surveyor need to undergo multi-level of learning started with basic skill. The scope of work of a quantity surveyor is vast since the construction industry is global in nature. So, several of interpersonal skills are needed in order to deal with different situation. The first level of management skill is basic skills. There are four basic management skills which are plan, organize, direct and control. Quantity surveyor need to plan strategic on what they need to be done first because they have to work under pressure of deadlines near and staying claim. The second basic skill is organized a tasks and construction project. Quantity surveyor have to provide site support in matters like billing schedule,  interim payments, and reconciling final accounts as well as settling construction claims. So, all the works have to be organize to get better results. Besides, they also should direct and control expenditure of the project during its entire life period.

              The second level of management skill is team building skills. In construction field, all people have to work as a team to bring success in construction project.  Quantity surveyors have to be professional in conduct and competence. So, they have to motivate each member in construction project especially in cost management of construction and finance management. When working as a team, everyone have to responsible and accountable for their action. Next, the third level of management skills is personal development. It divided into two types which is self-management and time management. In self-management, quantity surveyor have to do their job best and stay focused that are truly important and not just urgent especially when they managing contractual document with suppliers of various items. They have to stay focused because quantity surveyor needs to have good attention to detail. Time management is very important when quantity surveyor have to done their work before deadlines. Lastly, the top level is leadership. Quantity surveyor have to advise clients about the cost of construction project. Leadership is clearly shown when they negotiating with interested parties and relating to people from different sprata.

There are many steps and path in designing the building until to the construction of the building. A lot of work to do and sometimes there are many obstacles to complete it. Construction industries may involve many people and a lot money on it. As a quantity surveyor, we should take these responsibilities as honour as we can. Nowadays, there are many news about the building damage because of the material use are not in quality. Is it the surveyor especially quantity surveyor responsibility? As a qualified and registered QS, we should take care of such thing. Many people said that Qses involving in the corruption of money and bride. These paradigm has been talking for a long time and these thought should be change as a responsibilities of QS to calculate and survey cost management of construction. We need to spread the entire fact and the new paradigm to the world. The QS should show the good ethics in work and transparent, trust and truthful in work. By monitoring the all the detail in the construction industries, surely all the financial of the industries will just right and all the project will run smoothly. If the Quantity Surveyor play their role as good as they can, surely the economic of the country will be maybe slightly change to be better because all the money provided are being used in such a truth and honour calculative .

7C ZXOOXZ

Sir 1b requested some of the students to come and demonstrate the way of tied the bamboo. There were 2 students volunteer and came down. After that, sir taught us his ways of tied the bamboo. Then, he issued this assignment for all of us. Instead, we need to make our tensegrity by using the bamboo. And the size of the it needs to be the size of dymaxion. We can use either the rope or the rubber to tie it.

7B Scaffold & Gangplank

Sir 1b issue this assignment for us so that we can build our dome by standing up these scaffold. The scaffold need to be 1m X 1m X 6m high. While the gangplank need to be 3 bamboo width and 6m long.

Big Dome Assemble

11 Oct, 4pm we gather together in order to begin our big dome assemble. Firstly, we work together to clear the site by removing the "rakit" that had build for rag132. Then we separate our struts according to the section and place at different site. Under instruction by Sir Mohd Najib, we take the bamboo and began to build it. After placing the bamboo, we screw it. For my section, we all work together. Some take the struts while some screw it and some support the struts that had been build up. Unfortunately, there is some small accident and all the struts fall down. Some of the section don't even can stand up their struts.

X-man and studiomasters discuss about the problems facing and the ways to solve it. Then, my groups X-man told us that we need to redo our own struts if it was not stable enough.

Project 9 Mind Shift

After issued the assignment by Mr Wan, i formed a group of 5 with my major. I group with Tan SynTze, Teo SinYee, Muhammad Hariz bin Mohd Radzi,and Syafiq Ikhwan bin Kamarudin. After the studio, i went to find my studiomaster in order to know more detail about the assignments. 

I redraw back the dymaxion that i had done because there is a bit not accurate. The following pictures are the process of redo.

10B Xzbit

 

After the morning talk. we went to the old swimming pool site and found our 2012 craft and moved to the place that practice our Merdeka Youth Jam 10. However, i can't found mine group's craft. In fact, i helped out my other friends to bring their craft to the place.

3pm we needed to gathered in order to take the cardboard that had provided by En.Rusli. Each person need to take 2 cardboard and we will be going to make it in the studio. Later on, there will be a workshop for all of us at 4pm. We are separate according to our own major. I will be in E48B together with BS,BT and CM students.

All-USM discussion : APEX Bamboo Pole Vaulting to 2012

First of all, Mr.Wan gave the talk to all the students including some other who were came from engineering campus. He introduces all the staff that were includes in this projects. He also talked about how can we jump to apex 2012 based on this projects. Mostly, the information can found in his website which is www.hbp.usm.my/1b/buluh. Lastly, is the discussion section. There were total 5 person asked about the questions and within three of them is our hbp students.

1) How long do it takes to plant he bamboo and how many bamboos are in the world?

• Actually there was about 10% bamboos which can found within the jungle. The bamboos should be plants together  while not plant alone there. Palm oil can be used as to preserve the bamboo. We can find bamboo at anywhere else. At last, we need to remove ourselves and team for work together for the future and all.

• Like this, we need to join medicine school and then work on bamboos.

Domesday-part5

03 Oct, we gathered at HBP at 6pm. Mr.Wan and En.Rusli brief us about what are we going to make. We were required to use our creativity to build one thing. There must be at least one triangle and the triangle must minimum using 3 struts to make it.

After trial and error, we had came out with a roof as our product.

Domesday-part4

 01 Oct, we need to assemble our bamboo part. After the class, we went to place our bamboos to the site that had mention in the slide. Later on, we separate our bamboo according to part a,b,c,d, and e.

At 1pm we gather again and began started our work. We repaired the joint which had loosen. Mine also. I think it was due to the dry up of bamboo so the bamboo had became more thin as before. As before that, my bamboo and the joint was really hard enough and cant pull out. After repaired all the bamboo, we started to link up all the bamboo and made the part of the dome.

Exhibition and Event Briefing

En.Rusli showed us the pictures that he had draw. We were required make one "Dymaxion" per person. It consists of 20 panels. We required to print our pictures from the pass assignments that we had done and montaged it.Siew Bee, Yee Lin, Wan Ting and I grouped together to share the paper which cost RM6.00.

Besides that, Mr.Wan asked us to study the website www.hbp.usm.my/1b/buluh and ask us to think of 1 question which need to be ask on Monday. Then, post it to our blog about the FAQ.

Domesday-part3

For the next day, it was very fortunate that there was the guard's lorry to help us move our bamboo to HBP. I also seen that there were a lot of students making their bamboo respectively.

First, i measure the distance of my bamboo from the hole of PVC to the another end by using the measuring tape. Then i cut it into the length that i want which is 2.284m. Before that, it was really too long after installed the PVC joint. Later on, i used the 'parang' knife to make the end of my bamboo become thinner a bit so that it can fixed with the PVC. Unfortunately, the PVC still can't in.

After the class, i continued to do my job again. This time with the help of X-man which was Mac. But still it was fail to go in. Lastly, we seek the advice from Mr.Wan. Instead of making a rectangular shape it was better if make a 'V' shape and heat up the PVC to make it expand and joint together with the bamboo. Finally, the PVC was success joint with the bamboo with the help of Mac after trying a several times. At that time it was around 8pm already.

Domesday-part2

This morning i receive message from my friend saying that we need to bring our own strut to HBP instead of left at RUMPUN BULUH. However, my strut cant used at all since it was much small than the diameter of PVC. After measuring 5 inch i used the jig saw to cut the PVC and with the aid of staff to cut a curve shape for the another half inch. Later on, i went and heated my PVC then made it became flatten while it was still hot. Next, made a hole in the centre.

At around 3pm, my friends and i went to RUMPUN BULUH to search for the new bamboo. There only left a few of choices since it cant be either too big or too small to fix into the PVC. The weather was so hot and many mosquitoes there. Sweating anymore. Really tiring. But at last, i had complete half of the process.

2012 Domesday

Finally, the bamboo had came. We be assigned to make a big dome by using those bamboo. Due to the kindness of Mr 1b, we been given the priority to choose our group and whether want cut 1 or 2 bamboo. I’m in section 2, group B-13. The circumference of the bamboo is 75mm. I required to cut the bamboo into 2.284m.

After having our lunch, we went to RUMPUN BULUH and search for the bamboos. We saw 3 cows at there while one of the cow was blocking the ways. Finally, the cow walked out by itself. Then, we went and search for the bamboo that can be used as it neither be too thick nor too thin. Next, I used the saw to cut the bamboo into the part that I want after measure by using the measuring tape. Finally, it was done.

Part 3 Monument and cemetery of Yahudi

I designed my monument as a lotus flower. It was because it was very unique. In addition, it also symbolize the spiritual reality of our life. It tell us that we need to struggle of our life at it most basic form. On the other way, it also represents the hard time that we had gone through since it can came out from the muddy water but remain that beauty without any dirt. Lastly, it also symbolizes the purity of our heart and mind.

Part 2 LOOKING FORWARD

How do you aspect you are going to contribute 2012?

          ·          As we all know that 21 DEC 2012 estimate will be the end of the world. In conjunct to the assignment about 2012, there are lot of invention which I think is very useful and had been include in the survival kit. Apart from that, I will like to invest some kinds of moving houses which is very stable against any resistance and will last longer just like the movie of 2012. However, i will try to value the money and choose the materials that are in good quality which is not that expensive. In fact, we are able to build more and give all the people have the chance to survive. As we know that life in very precious. It doesn't matter we are what races and our economic status.

Part 1 LOOKING BACK

As the time had gone by about 2month plus, I recalled back what I had learn within those days. I still remember the first day of coming here. We being taught about the apex production and the principle of apex which is 3P. In order to done a well job, we must had a strong intention. After that, we need to act out while not only dreaming at there so that we can get what we want. The 3P are people, principles, and place. I had been learn a lots of skills specially in the cutting bamboo. There are quite few of our assignment which involve using bamboo. After trial and error for many times, I found out the best ways for me to done my job. Furthermore, this had save a lot of my times as I had develop the faster speed to done it within the shortest time. I felt satisfied for that. Besides that, I learned to sketch. I still can know what I’m sketch about although it was not very nice as like some of the designers. Moreover, our creativity is very important to do the assignment. As we are the future leader to the world.

6A Survival Kit

Based on the invention from  (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Khalil Shawkataly, 2004) - artificial agro-lumber. I decided to use this agro-lumber to make a square base on the top and bottom respectively. While the other 4 side will be just making a cross. This agro-lumber can help to improve the strength and stiffness of the material. Besides that it was fire resistant as well as resistant towards termites and insects. There is no preservative treatment needed and easy to cut. Moreover, it will give a nice appearance since it consists of natural grain texture. Most important is it is cost effectiveness. At the same time,  it can alleviating some of the waste disposal problems since it is make up from the wastes oil palm trunks. It acts as alternative to wood lumber. In fact, the forests can be preserve.

Second invention : WALLPro – A Load Reducing Geocomposite for Retaining Structures. (Ir.Dr.A.Naser Abdul Ghani, 2004). It is an innovative product that derived from scrap tire. It was developed as load reducing material.  It was able to absorb the loads on the structures up to 50%. Besides that, WALLPro is a lightweight geomaterial and elastic. With these characteristic, more things are allow to put inside the survival kit and floatable.

 Third invention : PALMCEL - A Natural Biopolymeric Paper Strength Reinforcing Agent (Prof. Dr. Wan Rosli Wan Daud, 2006). It was derived from locally naturally occurring material which is the oil palm residues. It is water soluble to allow maximum absorption onto the cellulose fibers and contain functional groups that are capable to bond the fibers thereby increasing the paper strength. PALMCEL is mainly use to enhance the strength of paper properties. Thus, the paper not easy been tear off.

Fourth invention :  A New Adhesive from Waste Polystyrene (Dr.Issam Ahmed Mohammed, 2007).  This new technique is very quick and uncontaminated process. It shows an excellent adhesion, physical and mechanical properties when applied with different materials such as cardboard. Therefore, it will provides addition support to the survival kit and make it last longer.

·         Absorb up to 5 times and remain floating after saturation with oil.

·         Can be landfilled or incinerated or either can recycled the collected oil.

5B Merdeka countdown

We been taught about "perspectives". It was a medium of communication in the building construction. 1-point, 2-point, 3-point. It consist of station point, horizon lines, vanishing point, convergence lines, ground level and picture plan. First, we been requested to draw one-point view around building HBP within 15 minutes. One the way, we meet Sir Rusli and he  brought us to the place. Second drawing..Mahram be the model sitting on the chair..

We are having rehearsal after the morning lecture..Overall it was done well under conduct by Sir 1b.

We prepared go on to the bus at 4pm. It was traffic jam on the way to PENANG TIMES SQUARE.

Due to the insufficient of helium gas, i only got 2 balloons. Definitely, my black box are unable to fly away. Finally during the last 10 minutes was our turn. We lined up in 2 row then walk in different direction. Then countdown began..10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1...BALLOONS RELEASE!! MISSION DONE!!

Merdeka – A Rethink

Dr Shardy had given us the questions to answer.

1)      Are we “merdeka” when we still hope others will help/assist us when we fall down?

2)      Are we “merdeka” when we ask someone to do our work?

3)      Are we “merdeka “when we still practice the bad culture that was founded by people from the developed nations?

4)      Are we “merdeka” when we need to enforce the laws that was created by our colonists?

5)      Are we “merdeka” when we fail to understand and respect the rights of others?

7)      Are we “merdeka” when we still apply the broken systems and values in our lives because these systems and values were founded by developed countries?

8)      Are we “merdeka” when we need to get the support from IMF in order to develop our country?

9)      Are we “merdeka” when we need to import the advanced technologies from other countries in ensuring the enhancement of our productivity?

10)   Are we “merdeka” when our teenagers throw out the babies like a rubbishes?

11)   Are we “merdeka” when  our children have less respect to their parents?

12)   Are we “merdeka” when we say it is alright for Israel to attack Palestine and just chalk up the massacres of innocents to Collateral Damage?

13)   Are we “merdeka” when we regards the United States as the “World Police”?

14)   Are we “merdeka” when we equate Muslims to terrorists?

Thinking…..

For me, all the answer is NO. Since been MERDEKA, we need to be independent. We need to know how to stand up once we had fall. Besides that, we need to think rationally and made a wise decision.  At the same time, we need to cooperate with each other no matter what ethnic we are. Thus, we need to understand and respect  each others. On the other hand, we need to improve ourselves from time to time so that we will not be left behind. We need to believe ourselves that we can do it! Education play an important roles in our life. We need to know how precious is the life and in a meantime apply moral values in our daily life. We can gain more knowledge through reading, research and explore. With the knowledge, we will not being look down by others and can create a better future.

 5A Merdeka Lunch

Today 20 August, sir 1b had issued the assignment for us that was Merdeka Lunch. We need to form a group of 10 peoples. And my group is named as "Best Mix". While motto is BE THE BEST. Production theme is HOLISTIC FREEDOM. Our intention is to produce one 3minutes merdeka theaterette. We act by theateretting. The actors involved were NG SIEW BEE, SAW WAN TING, SAW YEE LIN, SIOE MING SING, NUR LIYANA BINTI ABD MALEK, MARHAMAH BINTI ABDUL HADI, NISSA' KARIMAH BINTI WAHID, NOR ATIQAH FARHAN BINTI OTHMAN, and IFFAH LIYANA BINTI JOHAR. The rule are to collabration with 10 members and synchronize with theme's title which is holistic freedom. Besides that, we need to present on the coming Monday, 23rd August 2010. Our products are some of the photos and video clip. The place is at room E48B.

Before that, sir 1b gave us some theaterette exercises. For instances, scream, breathe, vanish, animate/express, small, big, angry, sad, happy and lastly is free!!

After the class, we having discussion at the pondok. Around 3pm, we started to modified the songs and made power point. Apart from that, we also started our performance. Below are some of the pictures that we had taken during our discussion right after the studio and our practice.

Space World

The slides really amazing and meaningful. Like it very much. Luckily, with the aid of my camera i able to take down the pictures and review it back. About the question that given to me...Which i prefer compare between the building development in Dubai and the natural beauty without any building?? I like the building development in Dubai as it shape is very unique and full of light during night time. In addition, I felt so surprise that it can changed from nothing to the most develop country. However, there is lack of green plants. If they are able to plant more green trees around the landscape, i think it will become much better. As green plants not only can transfigure the surrounding as well as purify the surrounding air. We should wisely use the space that having on our earth. But this doesn't mean that we should fully use it at develop the building. Natural will give us our basic need like oxygen to sustain our live. Apart from that, forests can prevent the sliding of landscape happen. Instead, we should plan properly and build some building which is close to nature and have a wider view to view for the future. 

 4 Urbanity

This time is the group assignment. Our intention is to form a group of 6 to study Penang Time Square and its surrounding (Place). We need to study about the space- form, nodes-paths and etc. The actors involved are my group members which are siewbee, mingsing, yeelin, wanting, and yousheng. 

Besides that, we need to show how countdown may be executed at Penang Time square. The event must also include the use of masks and BST that we had made before (Rule). We need to present it in power point on Monday about the urban form & space as well as the idea of countdown & merdeka. Lastly submit our report on Friday.

On friday evening, we all took 301 bus went to Penang Time Square. Luckily we din't lost the way since this is our first time going there. After being there, we tried to ask the people around us where is the fountain and the stages for youth jam 10. Finally we found it.

2nd day of discussion. We carried out our discussion at the restu & saujana cafe. At least, we had came out our power point (Product).

Our idea is wearing the colour mask in front of our face while the black and white mask is wear at the back of our head. We will be surround at the fountain. We had composed and modified the song and we named it as 'Unity'. For the first part, we will be dance along with the song that we had modified then we will be using our own BST to play together with the song. For the second part, we will be divided into several groups. Each group will form a dome with their umbrella and the balloons are put under the umbrella. As the countdown begin, the umbrella will be closing group be group. At the same time, the balloons will be release to the sky. Done!!

Unity/oneness

Dr Shardy briefly opened the slide of definition to all of us and asked us to read through by ourselves. Then, he called some of the students to become part of the body and speak out. For instance, the brain, mouth, hands, heart, legs and stomach. They all show off themselves by saying that they are the most important one. But after being struggling for a long time, they being exhaust and their condition were worse. At here, organ X which is sphincter came. Finally, they all were health and can function properly.

3C 6-balloon black bamboo box

Due to the coming merdeka, we were requested to be involve in the event of youth jam 10. In fact, our lecturer 1b had issued an project for all of us. This project was known as 6-balloon black bamboo box.  My friends and i went to buy those stuff like the balloon after our lunch. Then we went to cut the bamboo. After being cut into small pieces, we went to joint all the bamboo together. Later on, we use the rope to tie it up and cover with the recycled paper. And it was done.

3B My Black Box

What is orgy??? Never heard before this word. But based on the dictionary that found by xinyu, orgy mean uncontrolled action. While i also had search this word and it mean an extreme amount of a particular activity. 

What is prophecy?? I'm also blur about it. But it is a guarantee. Based on dictionary it mean that the power of being able to say what will happen in the future. Like the example of 2012 that given by 1b. In fact, 1b wan us to made a black box for emergency use purpose. Before that, we need to have an A4 black book. We need to sketch out as many pages as possible of our own design black box in the black book. Then choose the presentable images from pages of the black book and compose an A3 page of black book. Later on, photostate the page and wash it with water colour.

Vision & Rules

Vision??? Mean our goal!!! Everyone must had their own vision to achieve. For me, my vision was be a good and well-known quantity surveyor. Since i had my own vision already, i will try my best to achieve it. I will work hard and make my day not being waste.

How about those who doesn't have any vision keep in their mine?? What will be their life?? I'm sure it will be a boring and meaningless life. In the end, sure will be lost and feel frustrated. 

Having vision can lead us to develop ourself. Let us become a more successful person. The basic elements involved were the actor, decide ( what,why,how) and the feedback. The actor was me. I want achieved my vision in order to earn more and let my family having a comfortable life. I want my parents got chances to travel and explore around the world. I want let them to enjoy the life after being work for so long. Thus, i'm learning to become a more independent and having a self-confidence person. 

Apart from that, we needed to follow the rules to reduce the risk. Following the working hours can coordinate our individual action. And the traffic can achieve our vision in a more systematic ways and learn to respect other's right.

Lastly, our lecture strongly mention that no man is an island. We need to be work together and follow the succession rules as there were no task that is smoothly conducted.

3A Casket 4 Me

The following was the casket that made up of bamboo which was designed by me. I colored the bamboo become white in color. This casket moved by with the aid of 6 person.

My sarong was used to cover on top of the casket. In addition, my casket was designed to be open in 2 parts. So that, it will be easy to open. I also put some wheels at the bottom in order to make easy the job. I can be placed inside by opening the 2 cover. Inside the casket consist of a big pillow. The design inside was very comfortable.

Human Dimension

I din't brought at all the A3 paper...But luckily, Mr.Wan had brought 1 set of A3 paper came and distributed to most of us..Really thx..

On the spot, we were asked to draw the line about 1 jengkal on the paper. 1 jengkal is the distance between our thumb tip and the pointer tip. Without eraser and ruler!!! It was so hard for me. The lines that i had drew was not straight and neat at all. Then, we needed to draw our own dimension with the scale 1:10, 1:50 and 1:100 respectively.

Next, we needed to draw many cube as possible by using free-hand. No matter what direction we looked at, it must be the cube. Besides that, those cube must include the following charcteristics:

• opacity
• translucency
• transparent
• shadow
• shade
• overlap

2D Sarong

There were 1 group of 3 students which volunteer themselves to perform the story that last week Dr.Ilias had told. While the other need to sketch out 10 drawings by using A3 paper about what is their action and form a story. Overall it consists of 4 chapters.

For chapter 1, i drew about 3 papers. It is about the race between rabbit and tortoise. Due to the arrogant of rabbit, he had a nap down the tree. Finally, the tortoise won!!

Chapter 2, the rabbit had realised that he cannot careless and lost anymore. He run as fast as he can and he won!! Chapter 3, the tortoise decided to have a race again but this time the place had change. As usual, the rabbit run as fast as he can but at the end he saw a river. He was very annoying. But he still had no idea on how to cross the river. Finally, the tortoise chased up him and swam across the river. The tortoise won!!

Chapter 4 - After being learned from the previous 3 races, they decided to raced again but this time they will worked together in a team. The tortoise sat on the rabbit when running. And when there was river, the rabbit will be sat on the tortoise and cross it. Finally, they both finished the race at the same time. They felt satisfied and knew the important of teamwork.

2C The 101 mask

Oh, we need to produce 2 papier mache masks.

One is our own full face with the colour close to our skin and the another is paint with black and white with emotion.

Below are some of the steps in making the mask.

2B Man-made Structure 

Last friday 23july, Mr. Wan had gave us a new assignment which was make a bamboo sound tool (BST). We needed to sketch out a proposed BST before we sktech in our A2 board. We also needed to write 100 words to describe about our own BST. Besides that, we need to take picture for our own made BST as well as the picture of usage of BST. Our BST are needed to use in the HBP 10/11 Freshman Orientation (23-25July2010) which had been held on 25July2010 at Dataran Merah. And also in the coming Merdeka Launch on 30August2010 as well as during the USM bamboo symposium on 4October2010.

After the class, my friends and i go to the bengkel to borrow the tools that are required such as saw, hammer and nails. Then, we go search for the bamboo. Finally we find it in front of Jabatan Keselamatan. We found the bamboo which are already dried up and hang up on the tree. Thus, we just pull it down and then cut it into many parts. It was really very tiring and hard as i only done once during form 2.

I tied up the different length of bamboo together by using the rope. I also made 2 bamboo sticks for playing the BST. Beside are the video of my BST usage.

I'm belong to group 9 during the HBP 10/11 FreshMan Orientation.  However, we be combined into 1 group from group 3,6,9. We use our BST  to play at the end of our performance.

2A Natural Structure, Struktur Alami

 This time we need to go to the explore site which is
Rumpun Buluh Research Village, USM to search for the bamboo at 2pm. Unfortunately, i having the QS meeting. Therefore, i go there with group of QS students after our meeting. We explore there by ourselves until the end.

We are going to study about the joints through sketch out the bamboo. For instance, visual joint, time joint, life joint and inspirational joint. Morever, we also study about the life cycle of bamboo and the biodiversity.

Thus, we been asked to use the A2 board. We need to draw 6 picture and the 6th one have to be colour. The other 5 picture was just in black and white. Furthermore, we need to add in caption for each picture and make it like a story. Apart from that, we also need to design our own logo to draw in the A2 board. Below are the picture of A2 board that i had finally done.

1B Me, My Thoughts & I

My project title was cSFIT- An Automated Test Data Generation (and Execution) Tool Using Combinational Approachs, 2007. After studied through the research website, i came out the idea about how it can become part of the PONDOK. As this tool can automates the test data preparation and planning activities. Besides that, it was easy to do the maintenance work since the number of input variable is relatively small. In addition to, it can supports recombination of non-uniformly specified test data. Having this tools, it will bring secure to the PONDOK. Thus, we no need worry about things to be steal as only certain people are allow to access. Below was my work product.

1A My Virtual Home

What I heard

Began on the first day of the first lesson, our lecture Mr. Wan Burhanuddin bin Wan Abidin had gave us our first assignmnent for RUS101.

Transformation - changes on status-quo is not an option. The recurring theme tasks states that driving transformational can change for the future. There are increasing for the apex journey based on 2007 until 2013. It also believe that there will be a jump start from 2010. It was really fast, quick, rapid, and accelerated.

Apart from that, our studio production consists of 6 elements. First was intention. Everyone needs to have intention to study and work hard. Next, we need to act or take action so that there will be output which also means product. Last but not least, we need to have 3P which are people, principle, and place.  These 3P are including in the 6 elements. They were very important and need to be cooperated with each other in order to get the best result. For instance, the football team player Dusk and Holland need to held the FIFA world cup at the stadium of South Africa and need to obey the rule. If they held it at stadium SMK Chung Hua or either they just play as they like, there will no be such a FIFA world cup.

Besides that, I heard about RUS101 actors. It consists of students, studiomasters, USM community, penangites, et al. After that was the session of lecture and studiomasters  introduce themselves. Overall of them ask us to be study and work hard.
